Check out our recommended best practices for conquering common tasks.
A: Use Drag and Drop.
There are different ways to publish content in Optimizely. One of the most efficient ways is to use the Project Overview. The Project Overview allows you to select as many items as you want and publish them all at once. It is also the best area to check for items you may have missed if you were publishing content as you were working. We recommend always checking the Project Overview before you are done editing.
A: Use a Video Block or Embed into a RT block.
A: Determine the best place (page or block) to add. Do you need a new block or should you update the existing text? If you do need to create a new block, which one best helps present your information? Where will you place this information and how long should it display? Do you have an existing piece of content that can accomplish this task that you could unarchive and update? Sometimes simple needs a lot of consideration. Create “buckets” of grouped information. See our Newsletter example. (Live Site, Editor View) (login required)
A: Feel free to use our Shared Resources. Use in conjunction with your blocks to expand upon the specific information you want to emphasize. Blocks location: For All Sites>Shared>Blocks. For pages, you can create your own partial page view then update the shortcut property to link to another page. See Creating Supportive pages for more information.
A: We recommend creating web pages when available. Unless the content is heavily formatted and fixed it's always best to represent the file contents in web form.
A: Yes. If your content has been flagged for content approvals, then your web information is governed by our administrative procedure policies.
A: Use the Page Title and MetaTitle properties. Remember to keep page names short and reusable. This way you avoid recreating new pages and blocks each year and are only tasked with updating existing properties and blocks.
A: Updates where possible, replace if needed. With blocks and their display options you can create new sections to interject fresh content without totally wiping away existing information.
